Now since you both and others are facing this issue, let me brief you a bit since i have been through all of this earlier.
When you are using T/T method, there are 2 types of charges.
1st is the exchange's own charges which in your case could be 5-6 BHD depends on your local currency.
2nd is the routing bank charges. You are transferring the amount in USD. Standard chartered receives it as USD but you are paying in your own local currency. So the routing banks are the banks in USA where your bank and other banks like Standard chartered hold their accounts. So what happens is, the moment you transfer, it is routed through USA's bank to standard chartered.
The exchange i use has their routing bank in USA who is charging USD 15/- per transaction. So every time i am sending my fees, i ask them to add the routing bank charges to the amount. E.g. i had to pay 555/- So i told them i need to deposit 555/- in Standard chartered, you should add the extra amount. They added 15 and transmitted USD 570/-. Ofcourse, exchange charges are separate. When the amount reached VU, it was 555/- as required.
Routing bank charges are fixed and irrespective of the amount you deposit to an upper limit. What we are paying is quite nominal so for me the bank takes USD 15. In your case it could be USD 10 or even USD 20. Just depends on the routing bank..
Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Actually whenever u transfer money using TT payment mode, there are certain bank charges deducted by third party bank, these charges vary bank wise. Same situation caome to me on my first fee transfer time. they received 15$ shortage. So in future every time when u transfer money ask ur exchange company about bank charges first, and u should add these charges to ur transfer money..Or the other best way is DD or Bank Draft...I am sure when u transfer through DD you will not face these problems. and also better if u transfer ur money to STANDARD CHARTERED BANK.. since i m using this method i have not faced such problems..And also tell me please which country you are living, so i can tell u which Exchange Co. is the best. For more info join me on facebook by searching "Muhammad Farooq Minhas"... farooq_g222@yahoo.comRegardsMuhammad Farooq Mnhasmc110402379On Mon, Nov 7, 2011 at 12:03 PM, mc110401764 Umerah Shaukat Ali <mc110401764@vu.edu.pk> wrote:

Dear Admins,Please, guide me through this explaining what could be going wrong and where?(The difference between the TT charges is due to changing of bank from standard & chartered to HBL )
- I am an oversea student and I have sent the admission fee of $110- and the first installment of courses of $75/- at two different instances.
- 1st time I sent on standard n chartered bank via TT and I received an amount $30/- unpaid in my account book.
- Second time I sent a TT to HBL and this time I received an unpaid amount of $35/-.
- I have paid an exact amount of $110/- (as mentioned in Invoice) excluding the TT charges which were $20/- the first time.
- The second installment was of $75/- with an extra TT charges of $15/-.
I have emailed VU multiple times but they don't reply too me. By now i have paid an extra $65 for unknown reasons. With each transaction a deficit of approx. $30/- is occurring.By the end of my Masters I would have paid them an extra $240 for unknown reasons. Kindly, help me through cuz none at the VU are responding to me.----RegardsUmerah Shaukat(MIT 1st Semester)
