Subject: debt to equity
Q.What is the effect favorable or un-favorable in case of bank if bank's debt to equity
is increasing year to year? what is the standard of this ratio.

Instructor's Reply:
Dear Student,

In case of banks this ratio should have an increasing trend as the major
source of income or generating business are the deposits of the customers
which are the liabilities of the bank. So, for banks having greater deposits
is a favorable condition because the banks will be able to generate
larger revenues in terms of interest on these deposits
Acid Test Ratio = (current assets – inventories – Prepaid expanse / curent liabilities

Q.what is the purpose why we deduct inventories and prepaid expanse where both are
current assets
nstructor's Reply:
Dear Student,

This is because quick ratios shows absolute liquidity i.e. how quickly the
current assets can be converted into cash for the purpose of paying the current
liabilities. That is why these two items are subtracted as these cannot be converted
into cash immediately.
.

Letters of credit are often used in international transactions to ensure that payment will be
received. Due to the nature of international dealings including factors such as distance,
differing laws in each country and difficulty in knowing each party personally, the use of
letters of credit has become a very important aspect of international trade. The bank also
acts on behalf of the buyer (holder of letter of credit) by ensuring that the supplier will
