Dear Candidate

*VU students are required to apply for admission to Specialization Certificate after completion of degree program with result declaration of their Project/Internship examination along with Pass Out status. Since, this program meant for 16 year degree holders.

Admission Schedule:

Virtual University of Pakistan offers admission twice in an academic session namely Spring & Fall session. Admission for Fall 2011 has been commenced & Last date for submission of admission application form is September 18, 2011. However, classes would be commenced on October 03, 2011.The requisite information about the program is as under;

Specialization Certificate (duration - 18 weeks) has been designed for graduates having at least 16-year of education in any discipline from a recognized University / Institution and intend to sharpen skills and enhance educational, academic and professional qualifications while minimizing the costs of their studies. This will also broaden a student's knowledge and increase career opportunities available in rapidly changing and competitive business environment. Following are the areas of Specialization Certificate:

1. Banking

2. Finance

3. Human Resource Management

4. Management

5. Management Information System, and

6. Marketing

Eligibility for Admission:

Candidate must have completed at least 16-year of education in any discipline from a recognized University / Institution.

Terms and Conditions:

1. Candidate can apply for admission in one area of Specialization Certificate at the time of University admission session (spring/fall semester).

2. Candidate has to qualify at least 12 credit hours required for Specialization Certificate.

3. No course exemption is allowed for Specialization Certificate. However, candidate would be offered new courses in lieu of already qualified courses

4. Candidate can not enroll simultaneously in more than one Specialization Certificate.

5. The duration of the program for Specialization Certificate shall not be less than one semester or more than three semesters.

Award of Specialization Certificate:

1. Specialization Certificate showing the courses of respective area of specialization, grade and Grade point average will be issued by the University upon successful completion of the requirements.

2. In case a candidate fails to qualify the specialization then he/she has to withdraw from the original program in order to seek admission for another specialization.

3. Incomplete Transcript or a course certificate on the prescribed fee will be issued to a student in case he/she does not pass all required courses of the respective Specialization.

Fee Structure:

Fee payable at the time of admission: Rs. 4,000/- (includes semester fee, admission and registration fee) plus admission processing fee. University will charge half the tuition fee before mid-term examination and the remaining fee before the final term examination. * No Registration fee will be charged from VU graduates, if deposited then registration fee will be adjusted.

†Telegraphic Transfer (Virtual University A/C No 3464-12, Habib Bank Ltd, Stock Exchange Branch, Lahore, Pakistan). A student should deposit his/her fee through FTT (Foreign Telegraph Transfer) or bank draft inclusive of Bank charges that is minimum up to US $15 per transaction

Total Cost: Rs. 16000/- for one specialization certificate for VU Graduates.

You can visit our website www.vu.edu.pk & view apply online link under admissions link. You can fill up online admission form meant for Specialization Certificate, or obtain hard copy of admission form from any Virtual Campus, follow instructions & attach required documents along with paid copy of challan/demand draft. Finally, submit complete admission form at nearest Virtual Campus or mail your complete admission form including HEC equivalence certificate regarding your foreign degree (if any) on or before closing date of admission, at following address;

Upon receipt of filled admission application form at Registrar's office, it is processed within seven working days after necessary verification and candidate is intimated firstly through an email (if provided in admission application form). Secondly, via an email to his/her campus (incase campus based student) and finally, by mailing a hard copy admission offer letter and VU information material at his/her mailing address. A list of admitted candidates is also published and updated during admission session at VU website www.vu.edu.pk under admission link

Exam Procedure:

Students are allowed to make their own date sheet within the provided time span. For Pakistani students Mid term and final term exams are conducted in our designated campuses/exam centers. For Overseas students: Mid term and final term exams (online) would be conducted through using webcam and internet from their home/office/any designated place in abroad; despite of their physical location. However if a student within Pakistan moves abroad or an overseas student comes in Pakistan , he/she needs to apply for change of student status accordingly through the link provided at LMS under the "student services" link

Admission of Foreign/Dual National Candidates:

I. Admission of Foreign/Dual National (Residing within Pakistan):

Foreign/Dual Nationality holder candidates residing in Pakistan (provided can understand Pakistan's National Language 'Urdu') and intend to study within Pakistan have to follow prescribed procedure of Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. Such candidates are required to submit following documents to the Admission Office, Virtual University of Pakistan, M.A. Jinnah Campus, Defence Road off Raiwind Road, Lahore, Pakistan:

Filled out original admission application form and its one photocopy.
Five duly filled out and signed copies of HEC student information sheet
Two attested copies of Visa and Passport
Two attested copies of Proof of Nationality
Five attested copies of Afghan Refugee Card (if applicable)

II. Admission of Foreign/Dual National (Residing Abroad):

Foreign/Dual Nationality holder candidate residing abroad allowed to study with Virtual University of Pakistan (provided can understand Pakistan's National Language 'Urdu') is required to provide following documents along with their admission application form; complete in all respect, to the University.

One attested copy of Proof of Nationality
Declaration that he /she will not demand any letter from the University for the Issuance of Pakistan visa. However, during visit to Pakistan, if any he/she will appear for examination in the university designated exam center only.

Upon receipt of above-mentioned documents and after due verification, candidate is intimated firstly through an email (if provided in admission application form) and finally, by mailing a hard copy of admission offer letter and other information material at his/her mailing address. A list of admitted candidates is also displayed and updated during admission session at VU website www.vu.edu.pk under admission link.
